    Blessed with the hills, the ocean and other natural beauty, Takamatsu has long been important not only as an industrial crossroad but also a cultural crossroad of the Kaga and Noto districts. The population of Takamatsu is 11,199, and is about 30 minutes by train from Kanazawa. It is famous for grapes and sweet persimmons.

    Sports Facilities
    ACROSS Takamatsu- sports center with a play court (baseball, tennis, soccer), training room, sumo, conference room, walking/jogging area, and a brand new heated pool will be opening in January 2004!!

    Ground Golf Course- The course overlooks The Japan Sea. Very beautiful!

    Takamatsu Sports Park- gym, baseball field, running course, tennis court, badminton, etc.

    Shopping
    Shopping Center Ai- this shopping center pretty much has everything you`ll need. Not too big though, but you can get most of your shopping done here. 100yen shop, bookstore, grocery store, flower shop, dry cleaners, electronic store (CD shop, and other electronics), fabric store, and a famous cake shop.

    Kaji Mart- a little on the expensive side, but has foreign foods, and known to be fresh and of good quality.

    Fresh-Land Merushi- cheaper grocery store, fresh vegetables, mostly locally grown.

    Komeri- Household supplies

    Shimamura- cheap clothing store

    Shimeno Drug- pharmacy, household supplies, some grocery, make-up, etc.
    Daily- convenient store

    Circle K- convenient store

    Restaurants
    Yakitori Tabata- pretty good yakiniku place.

    Joyful- cheap family restaurant

    Kahoku-tei- really delicious Japanese restaurant!

    Koi Koi Sushi- pretty good sushi!

    Komakusa- really great place to have lunch!

    Famous Spots
    Takamatsu Rest House- resting spot on the Noto Yuryo. Apparently famous for its grape softcream!

    Yayoi Era`s Omi Nishiyama Site- This is the most beautiful spot in Takamatsu. It is a prefectural preserved site, located on top of a hill, surrounded by Mt. Houdatsu in the east, and Japan Sea in the west. This site was found about 16 years ago. Yayoi period was known as the era that began harvesting rice (200 B.C.- 200 A.D.). It is thought that during this period, people did not live in this area, but came here during battles.
