Food
Onto the important things in life! Whether you’ve just
arrived and are on the hunt for some “normal”
food, or, visiting the area to try some if its famed cuisine,
the following list is by no means exhaustive but does for
starters!
Supermarkets - (Hakui)
· Max Value – The biggest supermarket in the
area and open 24 hours. Pretty much everything you can get
in a Japanese supermarket can be found here and for a lot
cheaper than in the smaller towns. About a 20-minute walk
from Hakui Train station.
· Yamaya – A small foreign food store next to
Max Value. Exceptionally cheap alcohol and a variety of brand
names from around the world.
· Valor – Large supermarket, similar to Max Value.
About a 12-minute walk from the station.
· Joyful – A smaller, more expensive supermarket
next to the Hakui Community Centre. About a 10-minute walk
from the station.
Restaurants – “International”
(Hakui)
· Cocos – A large “family restaurant”.
Pretty good selection of Western food, free drink refills
and tasty ice cream desserts!
· Hello Days – Small American Diner-style place.
An assortment of food including pizza, burgers and fries.
· MacDonalds – Needn’t say more!
· Fortuna (Italian) - Italian food and an excellent
gelato selection.
· Est Est (Italian) – Relatively new Italian
Restaurant.
· Bistro Ange (French) – French food a la Japanese
style! Tasty but slightly more expensive than the other places.
Restaurants – Japanese (Hakui)
· Kura (Yakiniku) – A popular venue where you
BBQ your own food!
· Akiyoshi (Yakitori) – A popular yakitori restaurant
in front of the station
· Hacchan (Sushi) – A cheap rotary sushi restaurant.
· Maguroya (Sushi) – One of the tastier sushi
joints in Hakui situated on route 249 (need a car to get there).
